Pyrmont History
Pyrmont is a place that boasts of a mineral spring, which is known for its cold water that bubbles out of a rock. It derives its name from a similar natural spring found in Bad Pyrmont, which is located close to Hanover in Germany. The location of the spring is historically significant as it was the site of the first Presbyterian Church in the colony. The church was constructed in 1864 and situated on Mount Street. This historical landmark, a testament to the area's religious heritage, was eventually relocated to a new church at Quarry Street, Ultimo, due to the growing congregation's needs.
